Dr. Marie Deschamps Appointed as North America Regional Director

The International Association of Creative Arts in Education and Therapy (IACAET) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Marie Deschamps as Regional Director of the IACAET North America Committee, succeeding Dr. Krystal Demaine. IACAET extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Demaine for her valuable leadership and service.

Dr. Deschamps is a multicultural art psychotherapist, researcher, and artist. She holds a PhD in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University, a master’s degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Edgewood College, and a master’s degree in Public Policy and Governance from London School of Economics and Political Science and Sciences Po. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) and Registered Art Therapist–Provisional (ATR-P) in the United States, and currently serves as Visiting Scholar at The New School and on the leadership board of Expressive Arts Without Borders.

Her work integrates expressive therapies, trauma-informed care, and health innovation, including the development of Icanfeel, a digital art-based platform supporting metaphor-rich expression in oncology contexts. Her research further explores embodiment, attunement, and ethical human–AI interaction.

Dr. Deschamps brings a strong international and cross-cultural perspective to this role. IACAET looks forward to her leadership in strengthening professional dialogue, research collaboration, and regional development across North America.
