Featured books and authors:

  • Helen PayneAuthentic Movement for Practitioners: A Culmination of Theory, Practice and Research (Routledge, 2026)
  • Tina StromstedSoul’s Body: Active Imagination, Authentic Movement, and Embodiment in Psychotherapy (Routledge, 2025)
  • Marcia Plevin & Rosa Maria GovoniMovimento Autentico. Storia, principi e pratica (Authentic Movement: History, Principles, and Practice, Carrocci, 2025 – Italian edition)

Rooted in rich clinical and contemplative traditions, the authors have each worked closely with two of the best-known teachers of Authentic Movement: dance/movement therapist and scholar of mysticism, Dr. Janet Adler, and dance/movement therapist and Jungian psychoanalyst Dr. Joan Chodorow, both of whom were students of pioneer Mary Starks Whitehouse, founder of Authentic Movement practice. As long-time colleagues, international trainers, and dedicated practitioners, they bring decades of embodied research, clinical experience, and teaching to their writing.

During the webinar, each author will offer an overview of their book, highlighting its central themes, unique contributions, and practical applications. Together, they will reflect on Authentic Movement as an evolving discipline, its roots, current developments, and emerging directions, and how this work can support healing, creativity, and consciousness in our time.

Psychologist and dance/movement therapist, Patrizia Pallaro, will introduce the speakers and moderate the discussion. Following the presentations, we will open for questions and discussion, inviting a lively exchange between authors and participants about the books’ content and the broader field of Authentic Movement.

In an era when trauma, dissociation, and disconnection from the body are increasingly understood as central clinical challenges, these books honor the innate wisdom of the living body in the work of transformation, healing and growth. They invite us to discover how movement, relationship, and embodied imagination can support integration and regulation, and cultivate a more intimate conversation between psyche and soma where the body emerges as a trusted guide to inner life, connection, and the sacred.

This webinar will be of particular interest to:

  • Dance movement therapists and somatic practitioners
  • Psychotherapists and counsellors across modalities, including eco-psychotherapists
  • Jungian analysts and depth-oriented clinicians
  • Mindfulness practitioners
  • Trauma-informed practitioners
  • Graduate educators and supervisors integrating embodiment into training
  • Neuroscientists and researchers who are interested in translating findings into lived, symbolic, and communal practices
  • Ecologists and environmentalists
  • Survivors, creatives, and thoughtful lay readers drawn to the living relationship between body, psyche, and soul/spirit

We warmly invite you to join us in celebrating these three new volumes, rich resources for anyone seeking to bring the body more fully into therapeutic, educational, and creative work, and to deepen engagement with Authentic Movement as a path for awareness, insight, and personal/professional transformation.
