Core knowledge and quality

  • General knowledge of human development: physical, emotional, social and cognitive; informed by relevant science(s) and other related disciplines

  • Experience and appreciation of embodied learning modalities across disciplines and practices
  • Humanistic approach to education and ethical responsibility for society and nature

Multi-perspectives

Essential skills

  • Ability to utilize various forms of creative/artistic expression involving symbols, metaphors, and imagery in relation to the body and human movement experience

  • Updated professional and teaching skills as applicable to practices in physical embodied setting as well as in using digital media. Understanding the strength and limitations of both formats in relation to the scope of practice and participants/clients/students
  • Ability to communicate with other professionals about their practice, theory, and ethics of interaction

Self-awareness

  • Body/mind self-awareness: understanding of the body/mind interconnectedness and need for balance in the body/mind whole/part relationship
