Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice
Experiencing and relational presence; embodied awareness; engaging with materials; emerging inquiry; patterns of emotional experiencing; refining therapeutic companioning skills, working relationally, attending to process, workplace practice 1 and workplace practice 2.
Overview
The Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice is a 3 year part time program.
The first 18 months:
All students complete the first six subjects: Experiencing and Relational Presence, Embodied Inquiry, Engaging with Materials, Emerging Inquiry, Patterns of Emotional Experiencing and Refining Companioning Practice.
On successful completion of these subjects, students may exit with a Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Arts practice or progress* into Year 2, Semester 2.
The second 18 months:
Students will study AQF 9 subjects: Working Relationally, Attending to Process and in the final year Workplace Practice 1 and 2, in which they do their practicum.
At the successful completion of the course students are awarded the Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice.
*All students will be required to meet with progressions requirements in order to progress into AQF 9 subjects
Professional Doctorate in Therapeutic Arts Practice
Art-making together; Art-making-together;Together making art; Together-making art; Making together-art; Arts-inquiry; Arts-based research; Artistic research.
A 5-year part-time Professional Doctorate.
Candidature will be considered provisional until students have completed the year one subject requirements. Confirmation of candidature will occur after the MIECAT Institute’s Education Committee has reviewed the candidate’s submissions and deemed them satisfactory.
The subjects in years one to four include Research Supervision and our Seminar Series. The subject in year five is Research Supervision.
Within these subjects, students/candidates will be required to attend group and individual supervision, complete an ethics application, present work in progress, and attend the seminar series events.
The course has been designed to accommodate an intake of 6–8 new students in the course’s first year.
Due to the importance of group learning, MIECAT reserves the right to decline a ‘Year 1 student intake’ each year. This decision will be based on the number of students we require for a first-year group or the accumulative number of candidates in the overall course.
