ANZACATA is the peak association for creative arts therapists in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. We represent over 1200 creative arts therapists and include members who work with drama, dance and movement modalities for the improvement of function and mental health. ANZACATA began in 2018 with the coming together of ACATA (Australian Creative Art Therapies Association) and ANZATA (Australian and New Zealand Art Therapy Association) and both these organisations grew from a rich history of creative arts therapy practice in Australia dating back to the late 1980s and early 1990s, when university postgraduate level courses in art therapy, drama therapy and creative arts therapy began to be developed in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. ANZACATA exists to support, serve and advocate for its members and to uphold and enhance industry standards and professionalism.
