In this webinar, the presenters will utilize semi-prescribed movement activities from Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) alongside theory, voice work, breath and meditation practices followed by verbal reflection related to the 7 chakras or energy centres in our bodies. The participants will get a 'felt sense' of various aspects of the Chakras, their individual strengths and their effects on our body-mind continuum. Verbal reflection will further deepen the overall experience and enhance our knowledge of how Chakra-DMT work can lead to harmony within ourselves, healing, balance and growth. Join in the Chakra-dance! Experience its energies, rhythms, colours and qualities.

Description:

Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) practitioners have been continuously exploring and integrating co-existing disciplines and therapeutic modalities to layer their practices with fresh approaches and theoretical frameworks. These efforts have enhanced the expressive and creative value of movement experiences and strengthened the therapeutic relationship between therapists and their clients in individual sessions and group work.

The webinar through the presentation of chakra-related theory and varied practices will explore the tangible link between the seven major energy centers embedded in our bodies, and Dance Movement Therapy, as perceived and experienced by the facilitators. After gaining a deep understanding through an investigation of these energy centers they have connected the sustained health of the chakras to human Physiology and Psychology with focus on the associated therapeutic possibilities.

The workshop will consist of semi-prescribed experiential activities that include and combine meditation, therapeutic movement, yoga, verbal reflection, voice and breathwork to develop an awareness of each chakra.  Participants will perceive the fascinating realm of energies, qualities, sounds, elements, senses, emotions and colours associated with each chakra through embodiment practices that contribute to the human physical and emotional well-being.

This experiential session will help participants develop an understanding of various aspects of the Chakras, their individual strengths and their effects on our body-mind continuum. Artwork and verbal reflection will further deepen the overall experience and enhance our knowledge of how Chakra-DMT work can lead to harmony within ourselves, healing, balance and growth.
