About the program

“Bodily self, creative self” is the Primary Training of Italian Art Therapy, a path designed for all those interested in the application of the expressive languages ​​of dance movement (body improvisation, individual and group choreographies), and visual arts ( painting, sculpture, installations, performances), with the aim of developing creative resources for self-knowledge and acquiring specific skills for leading artistic-expressive groups, through the integration of motor and visual experience. The course in particular is aimed at those who want to experience the creative process as a personal resource, operators in the educational, social-welfare and healthcare sectors, teachers, artists, atelierists. The course will be carried out in mixed mode: sixteen online meetings on the Zoom platform. The last three meetings are scheduled in person, at the Bologna headquarters. The teaching methodology used is active and experiential.

Program contents

  • Exploration of personal symbolism in bodily movement and in graphic pictorial images;
  • Identification of individual expressive style;
  • Communicative values ​​of movement and image within interpersonal relationships;
  • From the Self to the group, interactive and group artistic methods and techniques;
  • Elements of History of Art and Dance;
  • Elements of theory and techniques of art and dance movement therapy;
  • Promotion, development and understanding of the roots of the creative process;
  • Methods and techniques of observation of movement and artistic images;
  • Design of a laboratory based on different areas of intervention, verification tools;

Psychodynamic Art Therapy

(Professional training program)

About the program

The professional training program prepares professional art therapists in accordance with the provisions of Italian laws and according to the training standards of APIART, the Italian Professional Association of Art Therapists. The three-year period includes a total of 1,200 hours of training. At the end of three years and after the defense of a thesis, the Art Therapist diploma certificate is obtained.

Art Therapy Italiana trains professional art therapists prepared to:

–      Know and use artistic language to stimulate creative resources in the subjects treated depending on the reference contexts;

–      Receive, analyze and understand the requests for intervention addressed to them;

–      Plan specific interventions, managing all phases: from contract negotiation, to implementation of the intervention, to its conclusion and evaluation;

–     Take responsibility for the therapeutic relationship;

–     Work in multi-professional contexts and teams.

 

The theoretical-methodological model

The theoretical-methodological model of the training course refers to Psychodynamic Art Therapy, from the pioneering work of Margaret Naumburg to the theoretical perspective of Arthur Robbins, up to the contributions of Maria Belfiore, Mimma Della Cagnoletta and Paola Luzzatto, with the precious contributions of Winnicott, Milner , Little, Bion, Bollas, Ogden, Bromberg, Schore, Jung, Hillman.

The Student’s annual training course takes place through:

–     Weekends in which the practical and direct experience of the discipline is intertwined with the learning of related theoretical references;

–     Practice of internship;

–     Personal and direct experience of art therapy that you experience in your training group;

–     Discussion and elaboration in supervision and personal therapy.

About the program

The training program in Dance Movement Therapy prepares professional dance movement therapists in accordance with the provisions of Italian laws and with the training standards of APID, the Italian Professional Association of Dance Movement Therapists. The theoretical-methodological model

The theoretical-methodological model is that of Psychodynamic Dance Movement Therapy, as it developed starting from the methodological assumptions identified in the 1940s and 1950s by M. Chase, M. Whitehouse and T. Schoop. This model was enriched by the precious contributions of Adler, Chorodow, Jung, Hillman, Laban-Kestenberg, Schore, Stern, Winnicott, including the contributions of Debra McCall and Rosa Maria Govoni, to whom we owe the birth and development of the Department of Dance Movement Therapy by Italian Art Therapy (1982).

The Student’s annual training course takes place through:

  • Weekend in which the practical and direct experience of the discipline is intertwined with the learning of related theoretical references;
  • The practice of internship;
  • The personal and direct experience of dance movement therapy that you experience in your training group;

About the program

The Institute of Expressive Psychotherapy trains psychotherapists prepared to:

  • Make an integrated use of Art Therapy and Dance Movement Therapy as prevention, diagnosis and treatment tools in a psychotherapeutic setting;
  • Knowing and knowing how to use body and artistic language as a specific tool for observation, analysis and intervention in the psychotherapeutic setting;
  • Knowing how to use the aesthetic and bodily/somatic dimensions in the treatment process, as well as in reading and understanding the relationship created between patient and psychotherapist;

Contents and Methodology

The Institute of Expressive Psychotherapy has an integrated psychodynamic scientific orientation that recognizes the inter-dependence between the creative process and the psychotherapeutic process.

The work created within the Expressive Psychotherapy setting, both through materials and through the body and movement, becomes the medium and the bridge through which to give shape to the formless and establish a relationship with parts of the patient that are mute and inaccessible to others. words and the symbolic process. In this structure, the creative process and the therapeutic process proceed in parallel, making the aesthetic, motor or graphic dimension one of the main tools of analysis and intervention.

The course includes:

  • Theoretical training divided into basic interdisciplinary teachings;
  • Practical training that develops in theoretical-practical courses and in a clinical part with experiential groups of art therapy and dance movement therapy, supervision groups, and clinical internship;

About the program

The objectives of the specialization are: to learn or deepen the use of artistic material and the creative process in leading groups. The course is structured into 9 days of theoretical-practical seminars, 3 group supervision meetings, 3 individual supervision meetings for the preparation of the final paper.

 

Contents and Methodology

In intensive seminars we learn the development phases of a group, through the experience in an art therapy group from its creation to its end. Practical exploration of some basic concepts of group work is envisaged, through the use of artistic material and group creative production. In the 3 group supervision meetings, participants can present their work experiences, while the 3 individual supervision meetings are aimed at preparing a final paper on the use of art therapy in a group context.

About the program

The advanced specialization offers in-depth practice of the Authentic Movement, in-depth thematic seminars, supervision and conducting tests. It consists of weekend meetings, residential meetings, webinars, e-learning, internship, individual supervision, for a total of 120 hours.

The course is aimed at professionals who work with the body and movement, in group settings, in the clinical, educational, rehabilitation and artistic fields, and want to deepen their research and work in this specific field. To access it is necessary to have had a long experience of practicing Authentic Movement.

 

Program Contents

The course will focus on the in-depth study of the practice of Authentic Movement in groups, studying its evolution, evolutions and vicissitudes in the specificity and complexity of this area:

  • Specific preparation of the M.A. group;
  • Constituent elements and specific dynamics of M.A. groups;
  • Various functions of the “witness”;
  • Specific language;
  • Different forms of the collective body;
  • Differences between clinical group, practice group and awareness group;
  • Group defenses;

About the program

This advanced specialization course offers the opportunity to study the basics of the practice of authentic Movement which delves into the relationship between body, image expression and word. The training process is divided into in-person meetings, in which both practice and theoretical study relating to the functions carried out by the Mover and the Witness, webinars, e-learning, internships are proposed, for a total of 120 hours.

 

Program Contents

The advanced specialization in Authentic Movement and Basic Work is aimed at professionals who work with the body and movement, in the clinical, educational, rehabilitative and artistic fields, and want to deepen their research and work in this specific field. To access it is necessary to have already had experience of Authentic Movement. In each meeting the different phases of the Authentic Movement work will be explored in depth according to Janet Adler’s methodology. In each of the phases, which evolve and connect specifically to each other, in an evolutionary vision, the study of the development of the relationship between “Mover” and “Witness” will be explored in depth with practical exercises and theoretical seminars.

About the program

The course is aimed at acquiring skills to conduct supervisor meetings in Art Therapy or Dance Movement Therapy or Expressive Psychotherapy, both individual and group. To access it is necessary to have obtained the Diploma of Art Therapist or Dance Movement Therapist or Expressive Psychotherapist for more than 4 years, be a member of the respective professional lists and carry out properly documented clinical and training activities.

 

Course Structure

  • Participation and observation of a training group for 8 days;
  • Discussion and analysis of the situations observed with a supervisor;
  • Participation in two/three training seminars of your choice;
  • Participation in the Supervision Models seminar;
  • Four individual meetings to compile an essay.
